Your Flower Girl Can Be Anyone!

Tradition says flower girls walk down the aisle right before the bride to announce her own big entry. However, there are multiple variables tradition doesn’t dictate any longer – and even the presence of the flower girl herself is entirely up to you.

So, who can you choose as your flower girl? The short answer is “anyone” – but here are some tips to help you navigate the decisional process:

  • If you want to keep it very traditional, you can choose a flower girl who is very young (up to 10 years old). She can be a relative (such as a very young cousin), or she can be a friend’s daughter. Either way, do make sure her parents discuss with her the responsibility she’s taking upon her shoulders. Also, make sure they are present at the wedding somewhere where they can easily comfort her if nervousness takes over.
  • If you want to, you can also choose to have an older flower girl – such as a teenager (who can also play the role of a junior bridesmaid), or even a friend who didn’t make it to the bridesmaids’ crew.
  • Last, but definitely not least, if you feel someone else is more suitable for this role, if you want to add a dash of uniqueness to your wedding, or if you simply want to make someone happy, anyone from your group of friends and relatives can play the flower girl role. Yes, even your grandmother – imagine how adorable she will be tossing flower petals to welcome you down the aisle!

Reasons to have kids in your wedding

Kids are always a true joy – but some of you may be considering whether or not to have children in your wedding. Why would you, in the end? We have gathered some of the strongest reasons to convince you – so read on and find out more.

  • They are adorable. Let’s face it, children can be absolutely adorable – and they will surely bring their innocence, beauty, and energy into your wedding vibes too. Regardless of how many kids you decide to include in the big day itself, you are guaranteed to make everyone smile with these little ones’ cuteness and playfulness.
  • It will be such an amazing experience for them! Do you remember your first wedding? Wasn’t it such a great experience? How about you offer some children the same opportunity? They will cherish the memory of having played important roles in your wedding, it will help them be more responsible, and it will always be something that participated in their shaping. Plus, the children will have so much fun and they will feel so great to be your trusted wedding party members that you will not be able to resist their sweetness!
  • You can have as many of them as you want – and you can reverse “traditional” roles too. For example, don’t you think it would be really amazing if a baby boy walked down the aisle tossing flowers or confetti, and a pretty girl carried the rings themselves? Defy traditional norms and your guests will truly love your wedding!
